It's All About Your Hair Growth Cycle
Not all of your hair grows at the same time. Each hair moves through an active anagen phase (rich in the pigment laser targets), a transitional catagen phase, and a resting telogen phase with little pigment to lock onto. Laser only really works on anagen hairs — and at any one time, just 20–30% of your hair is in that phase.
✨ Each session catches a fresh wave of hairs that have just turned active — which is why one visit was never going to be enough.
Why Six, Specifically?
Spacing sessions four to six weeks apart gives each new round of active hairs a chance to be treated. Six sessions catches the overwhelming majority of your hair and gives us a clear picture of your progress — finer regrowth, patchier coverage, and a noticeable reduction. It's a brilliant, evidence-based starting point, but it's a guide, not a guarantee, and your therapist will always tailor your plan to you.
What Can Change the Number You Need?
✓ Hair colour and thickness: Darker, coarser hair responds faster than finer or lighter hair.
✓ Treatment area: Hormonal areas like the face and bikini line often need extra sessions.
✓ Hormones: PCOS, pregnancy, or certain medications can stimulate new growth.
✓ Consistency: Leave it too long between sessions and follicles drift back to resting, undoing progress.
Still Seeing a Little Hair After Session Six?
Completely normal it just means some follicles haven't had their turn yet. That remaining hair is almost always finer, lighter, and slower-growing, proof the treatment is working.
